Loch Ness is a large freshwater lake and deep, and is estimated to hold more fresh water than all the lakes in England and Wales combined. Loch Ness is located in the Scottish Highlands, and the surface is 15.8 m (52 feet) above sea level. Loch Ness is Scotland's second largest lake with a surface area on 56.4 km2 (21.8 sq mi) after Loch Lomond.
