The unique online collectible card game Card Hunter will launch on September 12th. It’s free-to-play, browser-based, and built by ex Irrational, Looking Glass and Magic developers. You’re almost definitely going to play it.

Taking elements of collectable card games and table-top games and smashing them up into something a little unique, Blu Manchu Games’ Card Hunter has been on our notes for some time, despite its humble Flash-based origins.

The game will be free-to-play, but naturally will be bolstered by microtransactions. These will include additional characters and adventures, a subscription system that offers consistently better rewards, and a one-off $25 payment for the ‘Basic Edition’ that bundles together all the single-player content, along with a month's subscription, nine extra figures and 100 pizza slices - Blu Manchu's paid-for in-game currency.

Card Hunter is an online collectible card game with some twists:
  • It’s free to play and you can win cards by playing the game.
  • Search dungeons to find treasure and then equip your loot to build out your decks.
  • Use your cards to move your characters and battle monsters’ decks.

You can grab yourself a place in the beta right now over at the official website, or just hang on a few weeks for full release.
